Hi, I’m Ben. I grew up a long way from the ocean in Chicago, but I live in Thailand now and spend as much time as I can in the tropical sea here. I bought my first speargun in 2014, and in the years since then, spearfishing has become a passion of mine.
I am still a long way from being an expert, but I think that remembering what it was like being a newbie and also still being in the learning process myself makes me a better teacher.
I practice ethical spearfishing, which I believe means being selective about the species I take, taking only what I need (not what I can), never overfishing a single area, doing what I can to minimize damage to coral reefs, and always leaving the water and beaches cleaner than how I found them.
